What the bulletin says to do
Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, small hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with these storms. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor immediately. Lake Okeechobee... * Until 530 PM EDT. * At 354 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from near Buckhead Ridge to Clewiston, moving northeast at 20 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, and small hail. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Buckhead Ridge, Pahokee, and Clewiston.
