Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, small hail, high waves, lightning, and heavy rain are expected with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

Eastern Long Island Sound... * Until 430 PM EDT. * At 329 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near New London Harbor to 7 nm north of The Thimbles, moving south at 15 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Strong thunderstorms will be near... Mouth of the Connecticut River, Niantic Bay, Essex Village, Madison Reef, and Westbrook Center around 335 PM EDT. Long Sand Shoal around 345 PM EDT. Falkner Island around 350 PM EDT. Plum Island and Six Mile Reef around 400 PM EDT.
