For the following areas... Fire Island Inlet NY to Moriches Inlet NY out 20 NM... Long Island Sound West of New Haven CT/Port Jefferson NY... Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 NM... South Shore Bays from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay... Waters from Fire Island Inlet NY to Moriches Inlet NY from 20 to 60 NM... At 649 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 18 nm south of Fire Island Inlet to near Buoy 44025 to 26 nm southeast of Entrance to New York Harbor to 14 nm east of Shark River Reef, moving southeast at 55 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Strong thunderstorms will remain over mainly open waters.
