Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Wind gusts to 40 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with this storm. Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

Terrebonne Bay... * Until 545 PM CDT. * At 442 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 10 nm southwest of Timbalier Island, moving south at 5 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to 40 knots, and large hail. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in injury and damage to boats...vessels and oil rigs. * The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.
