Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected. Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

Bulletin details

For the following areas... Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound... Coastal waters from Bonita Beach to Englewood FL out 20 NM... At 245 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 22 nm northeast of Fort Myers Beach to 6 nm northeast of Lovers Key State Park to 10 nm west of Naples, moving west at 5 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots, suddenly higher waves, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours. Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Locations impacted include... Lovers Key State Park, Captiva, Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach, Bonita Beach, and North Captiva Island.
