For the following areas... Nearshore waters from Washington Island to Sturgeon Bay... Open waters of Lake Michigan from Rock Island Passage to Sturgeon Bay... At 846 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 17 NM southeast of Rock Island, moving east at 40 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. This strong thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.
