At 116 PM CDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 32 nm east of Wind Pt. to 18 nm east of Winthrop Harbor, moving southeast at 20 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater...
What the bulletin says to do
Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor immediately. Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

For the following areas... Lake Michigan from Wind Point WI TO Winthrop Harbor IL 5 nm off shore to mid lake... At 116 PM CDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 32 nm east of Wind Pt. to 18 nm east of Winthrop Harbor, moving southeast at 20 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Strong thunderstorms will remain over mainly open waters.
