For the following areas... Black River To Ontonagon MI... Lake Superior from Saxon Harbor WI to Upper Entrance to Portage Canal MI 5NM off shore to the US/Canadian border including Isle Royale National Park... At 729 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 19 nm south of The Western Lake Superior Buoy, moving southeast at 25 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts 34 knots or greater, and large hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in structural damage. The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.
