Full official description

Bulletin details

A cold front is currently moving northwest to southeast across the North Slope. As the front reaches the Brooks Range, precipitation begins as rain then transitions to a mix this afternoon/evening. There is uncertainty with exact precipitation types, but Anaktuvuk Pass should mix with snow and freezing drizzle between 3 PM and 5 PM resulting in a glaze of ice on elevated surfaces as temperatures drop near freezing this evening. Atigun Pass should transition to all snow by 4 PM with snow accumulations around a few inches. With rain and surface temperatures above freezing to start the event, snow is not expected to stick to the road immediately. With any heavier rates tonight, some slushy accumulations are possible. As the snow ends tonight, temperatures plummet into the 20s which could result in patches of ice by Friday morning. Any patches of ice will melt by the early afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing.
