Bulletin details
A wet system is currently moving over the southern panhandle through Monday, bringing an extended period of moderate to heavy rain for the southern panhandle. Highest rain rates are expected through early Monday morning, possibly reaching around 0.4 inches per hour at times, primarily for Ketchikan, Metlakatla, and Misty Fjords. So far around 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain has been observed in the last 6 hours, with amounts up to 2.25 inches in the surrounding higher elevations. Rainfall totals could be as high as 2 to 3.5 inches by Monday afternoon for low elevation sites with up to 4.5 inches in the higher elevations. Moderate to high confidence for heavy rain over Annette Island and Ketchikan areas with highest rain totals near Misty Fjords. Small streams and rivers are starting to some some rises, but no river flooding is expected at this time. Ponding of water on some roadways is likely.
