Bulletin details

A storm moving in from the Bering Sea will bring widespread, prolonged rainfall for Southwest Alaska through Tuesday. Rain amounts: Through Tuesday afternoon, widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected across most of Southwest Alaska, with locally higher amounts (up to 2.5 inches possible) in the Togiak area, along the Kuskokwim Valley, and near the western Alaska Range. Timing of heaviest rain: For Kuskokwim Delta and Bristol Bay, tonight into Monday. For Alaska Peninsula and Southwest interior (Lake Iliamna region and along the Western Alaska Range), Monday into Tuesday. Winds and water levels: For coastal areas from west of Dillingham to the Western Capes (including the communities of Togiak, Goodnews Bay, and Platinum), southerly sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph will persist from this evening through Monday afternoon. This could bring water levels up to 1 foot above the mean high tide line. Winds will be strongest early Monday morning. Preparedness: Check the forecast for the latest updates, especially if you plan to be outdoors or traveling. Along Bristol Bay, beware of gustier winds and higher levels along the coast.
