Bulletin details
As a coastal system moves across Western Alaska Sunday into Monday, elevated water levels, widespread rain, and southerly winds are expected across the area. Water levels could rise 1 to 3 feet above the mean high tide line in coastal areas of the Bering and Chukchi Seas. Rain totals from Sunday afternoon through early Tuesday morning are expected to range from 1 to 2 inches south of the Bering Strait and from 0.5 to 1 inch north of the Bering Strait. From Sunday afternoon through Tuesday night, southerly winds could gust to 30 to 40 mph, with gusts over 40 mph possible over the YK Delta. Those in coastal areas should take extra precautions to ensure that belongings are properly secured ahead of these increasing winds and water levels.
