At 439 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over The Summit, or over Vestavia Hills, moving southeast at 5 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Southeastern Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Irondale, Indian Springs Village, Inverness, Highland Lakes, Cahaba Heights, Oak Mountain State Park, Fowler Lake, The Summit, Lake Purdy, Brook Highland, Greystone, Meadowbrook, Samford University, Mount Laurel, and Grants Mill Road Bridge. This includes the following highways... Interstate 65 between mile markers 248 and 255. Interstate 459 between mile markers 15 and 28. Interstate 20 between mile markers 132 and 134.
