If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for east central Georgia...and central South Carolina.

At 645 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Augusta GA, to near Springfield, to near Orangeburg, to near Summerton. Movement was south at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Aiken, North Augusta, Orangeburg, Grovetown, Evans, Thomson, Waynesboro, Barnwell, Manning, Bamberg, Denmark, Fort Gordon, Augusta, Clearwater, Brookdale, Savannah River Site, Aiken Mall, Plant Vogtle, Belvedere, and Martinez. This includes the following highways... Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 187 and 201. Interstate 26 between mile markers 134 and 169. Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 15. Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 21. Interstate 95 between mile markers 85 and 119.
