What the bulletin says to do
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in Lincoln.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Springfield, Jacksonville, Petersburg, Athens, Chatham, Alexander, Auburn, Sherman, New Berlin, Ashland, Waverly, Divernon, Pleasant Plains, Loami, Franklin, Murrayville, Woodson, Tallula, Illinois State Fairgrounds, and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. Those attending the Illinois State Fair are in the path of these storms and should prepare for IMMINENT DANGEROUS WEATHER CONDITIONS. This includes the following highways... Interstate 55 between mile markers 79 and 106. Interstate 72 between mile markers 66 and 104.
