Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

At 744 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Avawam, or near Hyden, moving northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and torrential rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Hazard, Vicco, Elic, Ritchie, Cinda, Dryhill, Lamont, Smilax, Viper, Daley, Kaliopi, Ary, Emmalena, Confluence, Mosley Bend, Bulan, Avawam, Sassafras, Anco, and Dice. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Hal Rogers Parkway between mile markers 46 and 59. Kentucky Highway 80 in Knott County near mile marker 1. Kentucky Highway 80 in Perry County between mile markers 9 and 15.
