Bulletin details
Elevated fire weather conditions can be expected across portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi this afternoon. Relative humidity values are forecast to drop into the 30 to 40 percent range, especially near and north of the Interstate 10 and 12 corridors. The 20 ft wind forecast is expected to remain at or below 10 mph in most areas, which should limit critical fire weather conditions or at least the effective spread of fires that may ignite. Numerous local burn bans are in place and continue to expand across LA and MS due to ongoing drought conditions. This now includes East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington and West Feliciana Parishes along with Wilkinson, Amite, Pike, and Walthall Counties. Regardless, outdoor burning is strongly not recommended this afternoon, and all local restrictions followed.
