At 733 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 3 miles west of Newland to 12 miles southwest of Forest City. Movement was east at 55 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Shelby, Lenoir, Morganton, Forest City, Marion, Rutherfordton, Spruce Pine, Newland, Longview, and Sawmills.
