At 232 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Honey Island, or 13 miles north of Shallotte, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Wilmington, Leland, Shallotte, Rich Inlet, Figure Eight Island, Boiling Spring Lakes, Northwest, Sandyfield, Makatoka, Point Caswell, Hightsville, Long Creek, Cape Fear Community College North Campus, Exum, Wilmington International Airport, Murrayville, Currie, Castle Hayne, Ogden, and Winnabow. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between mile markers 411 and 416. Interstate 140 between mile markers 15 and 20.
