If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for southwestern North Carolina...and east Tennessee.

At 614 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 12 miles southeast of Madisonville to 13 miles southeast of Etowah to near Ducktown. Movement was southeast at 30 mph. Additional strong to severe storms in Bradley County are likely to move into portions of Polk and Cherokee following these storms. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Murphy, Ducktown, Tellico Plains, William L. Davenport Refuge, Coker Creek, Violet, Hot House, Turtletown, Copperhill, and Hiawasse Dam.
