At 430 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles south of Morganton, or 5 miles west of South Mountains State Park, moving southeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... South Mountains State Park and Pleasant Grove.
