At 100 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Wrightsboro, or 7 miles northeast of Leland, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Wilmington, Leland, Burgaw, Wrightsville Beach, Surf City, Figure Eight Island, North Masonboro Island, Hampstead, Northwest, Topsail Beach, Maple Hill, Hightsville, Long Creek, Cape Fear Community College North Campus, Wilmington International Airport, Murrayville, Currie, Castle Hayne, Ogden, and Mayfaire. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between mile markers 390 and 416. Interstate 140 between mile markers 15 and 20.
