At 429 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Elon, or near Burlington, moving southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Greensboro, Durham, Chapel Hill, Burlington, Graham, Hillsborough, Pittsboro, Siler City, Carrboro, and Mebane. This includes the following highways... Interstate 85 between Mile Markers 126 and 178. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 132 and 162, and between Mile Markers 222 and 274. the Durham Freeway between Mile Markers 15 and 17.
