If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Strong winds may occur well ahead of any rain or lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, RDU International, Morrisville, Eno River State Park, Gorman, and William B Umstead State Park. This includes the following highways... Interstate 85 between Mile Markers 163 and 184. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 259 and 262, between Mile Markers 268 and 270, and between Mile Markers 275 and 286. Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 0 and 11. the Durham Freeway between Mile Markers 2 and 17.
