Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

At 1249 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9 miles north of Brevard, or 5 miles northwest of Etowah, moving northeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Etowah, Mount Pisgah, Mills River, Forge Mountain, North Transylvania, Horse Shoe, Penrose, and a portion of the B.R. Parkway between Mount Pisgah and The NC Arboretum.
