At 1219 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Sicangu Village, or 10 miles northwest of Valentine, moving southeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Valentine, Kilgore, Norden, Crookston, Smith Falls State Park, Schlagel Creek State Wildlife Management Area, Highway 97 crossing the Niobrara River, North River Trail, and Sparks. This includes the following highways... Highway 20 between mile markers 176 and 217. Highway 97 between mile markers 129 and 141. Highway 83 between mile markers 193 and 222. Highway 12 between mile markers 1 and 29.
