At 527 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10 miles north of Orogrande, moving southwest at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds with blowing dust could result in reduced visibility along US 54 and hazardous driving conditions. Minor hail damage to vehicules and vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Orogrande, White Sands Missile Range Headquarters, The Otero Mesa, and Portions of Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument. This includes the following highways... Highway 70 in New Mexico between mile markers 167 and 186. Highway 54 in New Mexico between mile markers 16 and 47.
