HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 45 mph, heavy rain, frequent lightning, and half inch size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured...

What the bulletin says to do

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Heavy rains from thunderstorms can produce sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos, ditches and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive through areas where water covers the roadway.

At 755 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 6 miles northeast of Bloomfield, moving west at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 45 mph, heavy rain, frequent lightning, and half inch size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Hail may accumulate on roadways causing hazardous travel. Locations impacted include... Farmington, Bloomfield, Aztec, Flora Vista, NAPI Headquarters and La Plata. This includes the following highways... Highway 550 between Mile Markers 138 and 169. Highway 64 between Mile Markers 51 and 74.
