If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for southwestern North Carolina...and east Tennessee.

At 531 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Sweetwater to near Athens to near Cleveland. Movement was east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Cleveland, Athens, Madisonville, Benton, Etowah, Charleston, Englewood, Tellico Plains, Niota, and Calhoun.
