Special Weather Statement for Majuro Coastal Waters

Invest 95W was upgraded to Tropical Depression 09W by JTWC earlier this afternoon, about 245 miles north of Kosrae and 175 miles south- southeast of Enewetak, near 8.9N 162.9E. Tropical Depression 09W had max sustained winds of 30 mph and was moving west at 12 mph. The current track has 09W turning toward the west-northwest and away from the northwestern Marshall Islands as it continues to strengthen, potentially becoming a tropical storm Thursday. Fairer weather extends across Majuro as TD 09W continues to shift west and then west-northwest from Majuro. Outermost rainbands continue to impact the atolls far northwest of Majuro, with convergent southeast flow continuing to impact Kwajalein this evening. Unusual southwest to south swell associated with TD 09W will continue to diminish over the next day or so.
