Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

At 946 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Spotsylvania to near Montpelier. Movement was east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph, pea size hail, and frequent lightning. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down small trees and blow around unsecured objects. Wind impacting handling of high profile vehicles. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. Locations impacted include... Ashland, Bowling Green, Randolph Macon College, Milford, Port Royal, Fort Walker, Ladysmith, Dawn, Bumpass, Kings Dominion, Montpelier, Glen Allen, Chilesburg, Golansville, Guinea, Corbin, Gum Tree, Elmont, Penola, and Gilman.
