What the bulletin says to do
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. If you are on or near Kerr Reservoir, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike more than 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to a safe shelter. Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

At 509 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles southeast of Clarksville, or 16 miles north of Henderson, moving southeast at 5 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down small trees and blow around unsecured objects. Wind impacting handling of high profile vehicles. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of south central Mecklenburg County, including the following locations... Richardson, Eppes Fork, and John H Kerr Reservoir.
