At 509 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Nitro, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Charleston, Nitro, Jefferson, South Charleston, St. Albans, Dunbar, Sissonville, Poca, Cross Lanes, Pinch, Institute, Tornado, Elkview, Teays Valley, Coal Fork, and Bancroft. This includes the following highways... Interstate 79 between mile markers 1 and 12. Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 98 and 115. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 40 and 57. Route 119 between mile markers 76 and 80.
